Class of 1967 Holds 50th Reunion
The Class of 1967 gathered in September 2017 to celebrate their 50th reunion. On Friday night, classmates met at the Northside Akron Arts District for a wine and cheese party at Zeber-Martell Gallery and Clay Studio, followed by dinner at the Courtyard Marriott and live 60’s music at Jilly’s Music Room.
Saturday was spent with many visiting favorite “snack spots” like Skyway and Swensons and seeing the many changes in Akron. The day ended with a dinner at the home of Helen Hamlin Marshall '67, who was Senior Class President. Thirty-eight guests, including several husbands, attended the dinner.
As part of the 50th reunion year the class made a private Facebook page where classmates could post photos and memories of their time at the Elms. Becky Clemente '67 developed a web page with a wealth of memorabilia and photos from that time as well as from the reunion weekend.
Of a class of 77, 26 ladies attended the reunion. Sadly, 10 classmates have passed away. Attendees came from as far as Washington, Canada, Florida and Massachusetts. Two classmates actually celebrated the reunion together in Ireland that very same weekend.
All agreed that it was great to share old memories and make new ones. The class has decided that in the future they will get together once a year in a different city. Next year the gathering will be in Chicago.
