LEADERSHIP PROGRAM - Elementary School

·           First and second grade students share their written work in front of the class on a weekly basis to practice speaking in front of their peers.

·           Third grade students learn public speaking skills during two interdisciplinary projects: the First Ladies Tea and the Ellis Island project.

·           Science Fair in grades 4 – 6 encourages students to polish their public speaking skills through impromptu interviews with judges during the fair.

·           Older students are paired with younger grades to be “prayer partners” to set examples of faith leadership for the younger students.

·           Each class K-6, is challenged to choose a non-profit organization for which to raise money and/ or donate volunteer work.  Students plan and implement the mission project from start to finish and fine tune the leadership skills of communication and collaboration.

·           Sixth grade students are challenged to be the true leaders in the building and are given responsibility and ownership of safety patrol, office assistant work, and volunteer as tour guides as needed.

·           Sixth grade and first grade students are paired as sisters in our Big Sister/Little Sister program.  Sixth graders are challenged to lead by example.
