Deena Crane Gerber '93 has been named Teacher of the Year for the 2017-2018 school year by the Vanguard School Upper Elementary of Colorado Springs, CO. The award acknowledges her outstanding classroom instruction, professionalism and work ethic. Deena has lived in Colorado Springs for the past 19 years with her husband, retired Sgt. Major Dennis Gerber, and their two children, Dagen and D.J.
Allison Roberts Grealis '93 is one of 16 outstanding business leaders to be named to the Women of Note Class of 2018 by Crain's Cleveland Business. These women are being honored for the impact of their professional talents and unique perspective on Northeast Ohio.
Angelina Lee '18 has been awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Italian American Council of Summit County. She was sponsored by Rose LeRadici Gullo who is an Elms Pre-School teacher.
Melissa Metz '14 was among over 250 students whose exceptional academic work was showcased during Baldwin Wallace University's Ovation Festival 2018. Metz presented a poster titled "Novel tricarbonyl rhenium (I) complexes; synthesis, characterization, and potential applications."
This year's 18-day Ovation Festival recognized student success in research, scholarship, experiential learning, the arts and more. The signature event was the Day of Excellence, which featured student achievements from every school of the University. Students demonstrated their achievements by performing original musical compositions or short plays; reading original essays, stories or poems; giving video or slide presentations; exhibiting artwork; or presenting research posters. Participants in the Day of Excellence must complete the submission process and have a faculty mentor who sponsors their work and gives approval to present.

Barbara Sutherland '18 received a Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship from the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio. Honorees have a strong commitment to engaging in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. They also demonstrate high scholastic achievement, creativity, initiative and community outreach, and they embody the Council’s belief that young women with promise today will become tomorrow’s leaders. The three finalists each received a college scholarship.
Roxann Marco Vasko '74 is a mother of six and grandmother of 13. She is a registered nurse practicing in the field of oncology. She is the clinical manager of the Seidman Cancer Centers in Sharon Center and Parma.
Ebony Miller Yeboah-Amankwah '96 has been named a Woman of Distinction Honoree by the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio. Former Elms Board Chair Susan Flowers also received the distinction. These women were recognized for their remarkable achievements as business, community, academic and civic leaders dedicated to supporting opportunities for women and girls.
