Retirement of Our Lady of the Elms School President

Dear Elms Community & Friends,

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Our Lady of the Elms School President Deborah Farquhar Jones, effective June 30, 2026.

Deborah has made a lasting impact on our community, and we are deeply grateful for her dedication to the Elms. During her 10 years of service, she has been an unwavering advocate for our students, faculty, alumnae, donors, and families and for the advancement of the Dominican mission. Under Deborah’s leadership, we have achieved significant milestones, including celebrating the 100th year of Our Lady of the Elms School.

While we take time to honor Deborah’s leadership and service, the Board has planned for an exciting new chapter at the Elms. In the coming days and weeks, the Board of Trustees will: 

• Elect an Interim President at the June 4th Board of Trustees meeting and announce shortly after to the Elms community with support from the Dominican Veritas Ministry, the sponsor of the Elms;

• Identify a nonprofit search firm to assist with the President search, as recommended by the Diocese of Cleveland;

• Establish a committee comprised of Board members, parents, alumnae, and faculty to conduct the President search;

• Complete a plan for the School to restructure administration, maximize teacher impact on learning, and minimize costs.

While the search committee works, the Interim President will oversee all school functions and operations. Deborah will work closely with the leadership team to ensure a seamless transition.
