Kelli L. Hohenadel Joins Middle School Team to Lead Elms Eats Initiative

We are excited to announce that Kelli L. Hohenadel has joined the Middle School team at Our Lady of the Elms School as the new leader of the GAR funded Elms Eats initiative. Kelli brings a wealth of experience in health, wellness, and nutrition education, which will play a pivotal role in guiding students through a hands-on learning experience that connects growing food to creating healthy recipes.

Kelli earned her Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and an Associate of Science in Dietetic Technician from Stark State College. With a strong foundation in health and wellness, Kelli has spent her career promoting physical, mental, and social well-being for students. During her time at The Edge Academy/Akros Middle School, Kelli created and implemented engaging curricula for K-8 students, covering topics such as exercise, nutrition, and mental health. Her innovative teaching methods encouraged active participation, allowing students to take charge of their own health education.

In addition to her work in health education, Kelli’s career includes experience in food service and community outreach. As a Program Facilitator for the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, Kelli led programs for more than 36 schools, fostering life skills and healthy habits in girls ages 5-15. Her background also includes teaching CPR/First Aid, modifying recipes to meet cultural and dietary needs, and developing nutrition education materials for families.

Kelli’s deep understanding of nutrition, wellness, and community engagement will drive the Elms Eats program. Through this initiative, students will not only learn how to grow their own food, but also how to prepare it into nutritious, delicious meals. Kelli’s approach aligns with Our Lady of the Elms’ commitment to nurturing the whole child and empowering students with lifelong skills.

Kelli L. Hohenadel shared, “I believe it is my role and responsibility to create an environment that fosters the love of learning. Engaging and interactive lessons allow students to not just listen to a lecture but to be involved in their own learning experience.  I am looking forward to starting this school year, teaching Jr. High Social Studies as well as Elms Eats at the Elms. ”

Walt Jacoby, Upper School Director, expressed his excitement about Kelli’s appointment, saying, “We are delighted to welcome Kelli to the team. Her expertise in health education and wellness is a natural fit for Our Lady of the Elms, where we strive to offer students a well-rounded education that supports both academic success and personal growth. Kelli’s work with the Elms Eats initiative will have a lasting impact on our students’ lives and provide them with the foundation for healthy, sustainable living.”

We look forward to the positive impact Kelli will have as she works with our Middle School students to foster a deeper connection to nutrition, wellness, and sustainable living through the Elms Eats initiative.
