High School Summer Classes

Physical Education | June 3 - 14

The purpose of this course is to acquire knowledge of physical fitness concepts and understand the influence of lifestyle on health and fitness. The class is 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  This summer class is offered to female High School students. Upon completing this class, students will receive 1/4 of a credit hour for Physical Education. The Ohio Department of Education requires two 1/4 credit hours in Physical Education classes for graduation. The content includes, but is not limited to, the following: 

  • safety practices

  • components of physical fitness

  • health problems associated with inadequate fitness levels

  • psychological values of physical fitness

  • including stress management

  • evaluation of physical activities in terms of fitness value 

  • benefits derived from participation in physical activity.

Please note: all students must bring a water bottle, healthy snack and lunch, sunscreen, a hat, and clothes for various possible weather conditions.

Attendance Policy

Students must attend in person at least 9/10 classes to fulfill course requirements. There will be make-up work if any time is missed during this class. Students must attend 54 hours of class in-person to fulfill course requirements. Students are expected to be on time. If a student is tardy by arriving later than 8:10 a.m. more than four times, the student will not receive credit for the course.
